I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know and work with Jim DeMint in the US Senate, and I look forward to working with him as the president of the Heritage Foundation. Senator DeMint is a patriot who loves his country and is committed to principled policymaking and intellectual leadership. This is a loss for South Carolina and for the US Senate, but it’s an enormous gain for the Heritage Foundation.

Dr. Ed Feulner’s leadership of the Heritage Foundation has been nothing short of remarkable, and I congratulate him for all he has accomplished. Senator DeMint inherits the mantle of a true Washington icon, and I am sure he will continue the immensely successful path laid out by Dr. Feulner.

  1. Yeah, congratulations. A filibuster-free Senate won’t be as much fun for the old fascist, and that $1 million salary plus perks don’t hurt either. So much for public service. Now, he’s at a “think tank.” LOL!!

This is great- it means he’s off Senate Finance, too. Next best thing to Secession.

Between Rove getting banned from Fox, Obama’s approval rating at a post OBL high, Boehner’s parts in the wringer, Norquist’s popularity at 15%, and 67% of the American people favoring tax hikes on the Romneys, it looks like America is finally coming to its senses.

The long disastrous experiment with Counterfeit Conservativism has finally reached it’s end. Let us hope that GENUINE Conservatives who rely on reason, replace them. Their voice is needed, too.

  2. re: ” Let us hope that GENUINE Conservatives who rely on reason, replace them. ”

    friendly amendment:

“GENUINE Fiscal Conservatives instead of the frauds and weasels who now occupy Congress and cloak themselves as “conservatives”.
